Default Kernel drivers and GCC 3.2

I am currently beta testing Redhat 7.3.94. (Codename "Null".) It uses GCC 3.2. There are some binary incompatibility problems between GCC 3.2 and previous versions. The biggest problem is that if the kernel is compiled with GCC 3.2, any kernel modules used must also use GCC 3.2 or later.

This breaks the nVIDIA kernel modules. (They will not load. And yes, I have tried recompiling from the source RPM.)

Would it be possible to get a copy of the kernel module compiled with GCC 3.2? I am currently using the stock XFree86 4.2.0 "nv" driver, but the OpenGL drivers for that are abismally slow.

Well, that's how it goes when you use beta software with major upgrades to things like gcc.

Someone would have to know what config is used, and basicly have the same kernel to be able to make a module for you.

Just compile your own kernel, then do the source for NVIDIA_kernel.

He already did that. Mandrake's developers will be facing the same issues since 9.0 is gcc 3.2 based.

The download edition of Mandrake won't ship with nForce drivers (at least, not for the LAN card) since they're not Open Source. Likewise for Debian. This is a bit of a bummer for fetching drivers over the LAN (e.g. ADSL PPPoE) unless you plan ahead and download the RPMs onto a medium compatible with the machine you're installing on. And of course, gcc 3.2 (or even 3.1) compatible drivers don't exist yet because they're not Open Source.
