Well, I have just installed the newest driver 169.12 and the bug is still here. Is this going to be fixed sometime soon ? I'm forced to stick with 169.04. This bug was introduced with the 169.07 driver. Can someone from NVIDIA confirm that this bug is being worked on ? I'll even attach a new bug report.
Thank you

PS : Here are two screenshots that show the problem in the taskbar where parts of it are not drawn and others are :

The most annoying part of it is that it blinks at times making this driver impossible to use.

Yep, I still have this problem, too. I think the 169.04 was the best release of nvidia ever... I also never had this problem in that release.

Same here.. after 169.04 artefacts appeared with Gnome+Composite. I was really happy, that 169.12 did something about the "black window bug".. but it seems like every new driver solves some bugs and brings some more. I cannot tell if there are getting viewer.. only that I never had a desktop(Beryl/Compiz) not affected by the bugs in the nVidia driver. But since there is no real alternative yet, I'll stick with nVidia.

PS: I tried to upload a bugreport, but I got the message " Your file of 237.9 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 146.9 KB for this filetype."

I also have a corruption problem on 2D that I tracked down to the powermizer. This could be your problem too. Check out:

I doubt this is the cause of our problem. Seeing as our bug has present in all versions after (but not including) 169.04.

Does anybody know if there has been a resolution to this problem? I have a 7600 GT and get the aforementioned artifacting in all of the newer drivers I've tried. The easiest way I've been able to reproduce the problem is using Thunderbird. I create a new message, and when I type the subject, the corruption flashes on and off the window decoration (as the decoration is supposed to be updated with my subject text). I don't want to risk messing up my system by trying the new drivers only to find out that the bug is still there.

Sadly the bug is still there with the newest driver (177.78) and no nvidia Developer ever made a statemant to this. By the way, this bug is being discussed in these threads too:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=104822
and
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=118550
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...24/+bug/186382

The last one is a little weird, since initially there was another bug with similar effects, which is already solved. The problems related to the nvidia driver are still there.

Greetings!
