I bought a PS3 because I thought the war was over!

The PS3 ($399) was the cheapes quality Blu-ray player I could find. The price needs to drop to $250.

Who cares that DVD is 99% of the market?! Business looks forward into the future. HD is the future. SD TV is going to be discontinued soon.

I'd buy a 360 Blu-Ray add-on. It'll probably be like $200 though.

Once Disney goes, everyone else follows.

nice to see you pulled out the crystal ball for this post. 99% of the **** you spewed was speculation.
Vin, I thought you had foresight. DVD will go the way of the donkey. Regardless, you people who can't see the obvious probably still invest in companies like Sun Microsystems. Regardless, anyone with eyes and a HDTV can tell the differences. As the prices drop, DVD will become irrelevent. Not now, not in two years but in five years or so definitely. Keep enjoying your old VHS tapes of the Love Boat buddy.

obviously DVD will not last forever. but saying the "format war" is over is just plain stupid. total sales are still a very small piece of the market that is dominated by DVD.

war between two HD formats are near over. war between SD and HD is still far from over until in next few years if not sooner.

i'm guessing on feb 2009 is when everything will start to pick up in HD. i think next month bestbuy is going to stop selling sdtv. so yeah, when everyone starts to pick up hdtv, we should expect to see sale jump on hd movies.

Did I ever say it was over. I said it was inevitable that in time DVD was going to die. Read my post. I do believe that HD DVD is hanging on by a tread.

$250 for a PS3 is a rip off. Maybe if the got it down to 19.99 I might consider buying it.

nicorulez and personal opinion apparently go hand in hand. the spewing of personal opinion about what people will do in the near future has left the end of this thread quite comical. you regurgitated the backing of BD, congratulations, your hypocritical comment about the use of google has bode well for you. you ignore facts like this, but because best buy will stop selling SD tvs means it the end of SD *gasp*. Are you serious here, are you using best buy as an argument? The average size of average Joe's television is ~32 inches, if you can tell the difference between an upconverted dvd and HDM from average viewing distance of 7' on this size set, I will laugh in your face. So until this average tv size starts increasing(which it currently is), HD sets have more than 25% of the market and the prices of HDM are at the prices of current dvds, only then will we see a large shift in the market. Business Economics 101. Until then we will be lucky if by the end of 2008 that dvd to HDM sales are better than 95:1. Learn and post some facts, maybe then will people in this thread respond to your posts seriously. If not keep posting, either way you are making this a hilarious thread.
