I have a zalman 9700nt CPU fan and its spinning really slow for some reason. Im using speed fan and only detecting that its running at 675 RPM which is really slow to my other fans spinning at 1500 - 2500. What can I do to speed this up?

Did you attach the included speed controller? If so is it dialed all the way up?
If not, then make sure that VOLTAGE CONTROL for the fan is set in the BIOS as that's what the fan responds to and if it's set to PWM it's speed will be likely incorrectly detected. I really wouldn't worry in any case as the fan on your 9700, even at low RPM will be effective - it's designed to shift more air with less rotational movement than the Intel stock cooler's fan.

I liked how quiet the 9700 was when my CPU was idle.

As long as you have it connected to the CPU header there shouldn't be anything to work about. The motherboard is most likely set up to control the fan speed so as the temps increase the fan will spin faster. I have mine set to shut off at 25C so when I start the computer the fan doesn't even turn on for about 5 minutes. |

Although I would let only one or the other control fan speed. if your going to use speedfan, remove the hardware dial controller. Usually the controller will still reduce fan speed even at %100, so if you want to speed up the fan, you don't have to over power the port to get the fans rated speed.
