This is gonna be interrresting!
Quote:
Crytek will demonstrate their CryENGINE 2 game development middleware and their Sandbox 2 game editor at this year's Game Developer Conference, for the first time running on multiple hardware platforms such as the PS3 and Xbox 360.

First publicly shown at last year's conference, and recently released as the technology underlying their critically acclaimed PC game, Crysis, this year's engine will be shown for the first time running on multiple hardware platforms such as the PS3 and Xbox 360, to a select audience. In addition, there will be a public demonstration showing how well the fully optimized engine can perform on a budget PC which can be put together for around 600 dollars complete, including keyboard and mouse. Visitors will be able to see for themselves the extremely high quality that can be achieved on relatively inexpensive consumer hardware today using the CryENGINE 2.

Epic LOLs all around.

Maybe low/medium crysis settings .....which are actually considered extremely high quality compared to other games running in full high quality settings!

unless they've had some super rendering method they haven't shown us yet that will allow the guys with 8800's to run the game full tilt at 50 fps w/aa

medium crysis looks better then most other games on the market.

very high crysis setting is not even the highest setting you can have in the game, this engine will have a very long life.

Just think back to 2004, when HL2's Source was called a resource hog and ran pretty poorly at highest settings on all but the 9800 and 6800GT. CE2 is just the same now, but give the hardware just another year and we'll be seeing smoother motion with more features enabled. Let's just hope that it will not be like Source and only get licensed by studios who go out of business so quickly.

yeah cant wait to see what this engine can do when it's gone through
OPTIMIZATION. Chances are it will run better on consoles, (even though
the graphics may be dumbed down a little) they will still look hella good.

I can bet that the textures quality will be reduced significantly, and the view distance reduced. Overall I think it will look much worse than the PC version.

Then the game might actually have playable performance... Still wont matter unless they fix the crappy gameplay.

If I remember correctly, the engine was also hailed for scaling well even to the weakest hardware while still looking good and running well. The same can't be said of Crysis, I'm afraid.

well, taking a look at the system requirements for Assasin's Creed for PC when compared to the specs on a PS3 or 360... eh, it might not be that hard for them to pull something off that still looks good.

Poor comparision m8. AC for PC is actually a horrible port, Ubisoft, you know.

Ubisoft should have just gone balls out and required 8gb of ram for AC and just have the entire game loaded into memory. Don't turn that computer off!
