Default 169.09 doesn't work on DELL Vostro 1500/8600M GT/OpenSUSE 10.3

Hi,

just wanted to upgrade my beautiful Vostro from 100.14 (which works perfectly)
to 169.09 (for CUDA). Works almost (perfect install, no X hang, no obvious errors), but the expression 'psychedelic screen' (just one glass of wine, nothing else, serious) that somebody else used for his problem describes the symptoms best.

Already tried all 4G combinations of boot parameters I could find (also standard, for the files attached I used all boot param 'fixes' I could find), no changes (except from the colors, most of the time some NV green, sometimes also red).

Does anybody know of some cure to this issue? Any help appreciated !!!!

Thanks a lot

Hello again,

nobody got any idea, any hint, even not from NVidia? Is there a chance to fix the problem, will there be a good chance for a fix in the next driver release, for when is the next release planned?

Thanks a lot

Hi, the driver does not work on Debian 4.0, on Vostro 1500n with 8400 GS. What I got is a white screen with a strip in the middle fading from white to grey and than black. I will try something from the archive drivers, but the problem exists...

ok, got the solution...ready?

1: go to windows (yes, you MUST), download and istall phoenix edid, free software

2: launch and aquire your edid from the registry....
3: export (not save) as raw format...

4:go to xorg.conf, add this line to section device
Option "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/mypath/file.raw"
where /mypath/file.raw is the file exported before...

enjoy

now say thanks to Emisca (if you know him... )
