Hi billydv. Fedora 9 ships with a prerelease X server that is not yet supported.

Maybe -ignoreABI will help?

Where do you put the -ignoreABI option? In what file?

I'm not sure how the new GDM works. For me, I log in on a text console, and then type:
startx -- -ignoreABI Note that some things do not seem to work right, though. I can't get any OpenGL anything to work, but regular 2D seems fine. Can't wait for nouveau to be able to at least drive my monitor in 2D mode (neither nv nor nouveau seem capable of getting my monitor - a common Samsung 206BW - to run at native resolution on my GeForce 6100 chip) - then I'd have the same level of functionality but I wouldn't have to put up with breakages and strange command-line voodoo. ![]()

It would be very disappointing to wait until the *still undetermined* 'official' release date of Xorg7.4 before we get a driver that supports it. |

Looks like I won't be upgrading to Fedora 9 for a few months. ![]() One of my friends was going to install F9 on his laptop when it came out, but it seems that he will have to wait, too. (nVidia Go chipset) |

I got assurance from the release manager that the ABI won't be changing between now and the official xserver 1.5 release, so the ABI will be marked as supported in the next driver release so that -ignoreABI won't be required.
Note, of course, that unless I hear otherwise from the higher-ups, we still won't officially support development snapshot and release candidate X servers. Your mileage, as they say, may vary. Maybe we should tell Xorg developers to release it quickly than telling Nvidia. They have missed release dates by several months now. So more than nvidia i blame Xorg guys. Anyway...the delay is for good...so perhaps the best thing is to wait.. I am staying with fedora 8 myself,
