71*C is the 'safe' limit. 100*C and it'll start to throttle down. Some mobos will shut the PC down or give a warning at a chosen temp, but not all. Try running the PC with the side off and a fan blowing the air in. A stock cooler will do as long as you're not OCing and your case a reasonable air flow. If it's still not right, don't keep using it until you've sorted the problem. You don't wanna have to be buying a new PC do you?!?

Hmm i could try that and play crysis.
Hey i just had a thought, can drivers cause a problem like this, im using the 169.25 whql drivers but im just giving it a thought if the whole pc locks up its like a BSOD is ment to show but it didn't just a blank black screen?

Im not sure what can be causing this problem i have all fans on 100%, i might reconnect the exhaust fan to the pc tonight, that helps with blowing out hot air.

Infact, im going to it right now, worth to use it i only took it out when i got my new GPU because i thought i wouldnt need it but really, tbh it did a hell of a great job.

Anyways ill keep you reporting with taking the side off.

Thx,
Matt

The rear fan os probably the most important fan in any PC. It moves the most air through the case.

All working fine now, replaced the cpu with intel genuine paste and load temperates are average 40c now, is this better? but im still thinking of the artic silver 5 paste.

But in games the highest temp it went to for me was 55c in crysis so far!
So im pleased at the moment and going to keep checking the temperates over the next week or so.

Thanks,
Matt.

Yeah, that'll do it! At least you didn't burn up the CPU.

Get the Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal compound. It's better than AS5.
