they are part of the group that determines royalties, so they have a say in the price point, unlike DVD.

Oh noes! Guess what? They were part of the group that developed CD's and DVD's. Quick everyone destroy your DVDs!

They developed CDs with Philips and for DVDs they and Philips dropped their developing format to join Toshiba and the rest; in turn improving Toshibas design aswell.

This is the reason why I never bought a high-end HD-DVD or Blu-ray player - I was sticking with my Xbox 360 and PS3 until someone finally won the format war.

actually currently ps3 is best blu-ray player in the market and is upgradable to profile 2.0 so basically you already have one.

after joining netflix i never bought a single movie again. I have over 100 DVDs that i bought before and are just collecting dust, I watch them once or twice and thats it.

And with the new online viewing of Netflix titles, there's hardly any reason for me to even rent DVDs anymore. I will be renting blu-ray though!
