Afterall Sony made great decision with putting Blu-Ray into every PS3 console. No matter which format won it's great there's the end of confusion. And yes let's hope it means lower prices for Blu-ray movies on pair with DVDs.

definitely, sony with bd losing would mean a drop in ps3 sales. the ps3 as is has a terrible attach rate and i read somewhere that around 35-40% of ps3 install base never intends on playing games on the ps3. not that they couldn't afford the ps3 to bomb, but sometimes you have to spend money in hopes of making money. i'm just upset that this time the outcome was decided in a board room surrounded by pricks that don't care instead of the end user.

we won't be seeing lower prices on the movies or the players until holidays '08. bd companies want to make the most out of people making the switch, and until the cheaper lasers are actually mass produced, the prices won't be going anywhere.

While you do have a point there, I simple cannot recall any advertising of Blu-Ray that wasn't done by Sony. I also cannot recall any other company speaking to the public/press on the behalf of Blu-ray. So while Sony is not the only member of BDA, I do get the impression that they are the ones pulling the strings.

Not likely, now that there's no competition.
