Default The African Honey Badger.

The most fearless animal in the world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c81bcjyfn6U

The editing of the clip is wrong at one point. While the narator speaks of the puffadder the badger is fighting a cobra actually. And when the badger falls after bitten it was because of the puffadder that bit it. I saw the complete program on National Geographic.

I've also seen the badger chase away a female lion from a kill.

Have you traveled around Africa much to see all the wildlife?

The makers of the X-men characters didn't know about the honey badger when it came to toughness, natural resilience and capability to heal when they created the character of Wolverine.

Of course, Honey Badger doesn't quite have the same ring and doesn't sound as cool as Wolverine.

No I haven't traveled all that much, but I have seen most of the impressive animals of Africa first hand.

Wolverine is bigger, stronger and just as mean. The biggest difference is the wolverine has a thick layer of fat round it's body to keep it warm. That also protects him. Wolverines are known to either fight off grizzles (which can kill a lion) or die trying. I think wolverines border on suicide rather than just tough.

Wolverine #1 Honey Badger some where not number one. Honey badger may be mean but it wouldn't win.

I see your North American patriotism is getting the better of you. A honey badger that is smaller is > than a wolverine which is bigger. And I have yet to see a wolverine that has survived a puffadder or cobra bite and then after a few hours recover and eat the snake further.

I believe the badger is a bad mofo, but I think I know of a domestic dog that is in the same class. The daschund was bred to hunt badgers.

Specifically to go down into their burrow and grab hold of them and drag them out. Their tails are extra strong so the hunter could grab them and pull dog and badger out.

I had one my sister gave me for my 16th b day, and he was a little monster. Would attack anything or anyone on command. More tenacious than any of the 5 pit bull terriers I have owned.

You would have to kill the dog to make him stop. If that dog would have had the size and jaw strength of a larger dog he would have been deadly, and I would have had to seclude him or worse, put him down.

No dude. The daschund was bred to hunt rodents (large rats and rabbits and also small foxes). And maybe if it came into contact with a badger it could defend itself. But that is the European badger which a pathetic shadow of the African honey badger.
