So, going to see if all is still well and it boots, install the OS, and test, tweak, overclock, software tests and fix any issues before I go for the official OS install.

Sweet! Hope it goes so ever smooth for you! I will be doing it later on once I can confirm that a 9800 GTX can still use the same waterblocks from the 8800 Ultras in SLI.
I won't be using the 9800 GX2 since I know it won't work but 9800 GTX or a revision down the road would be sweet!

Not true, it's the standard ASUS Striker motherboard (if that's the motherboard you have).

Feel free to upgrade the bios if you want, although we recommend you only do it when we launch an approved bios.

Just be aware, warranty coverage is on our approved upgrades / software / updates.

The bottom line is we do ship with industry standard components.

I'm just glad I've not had to gut out my system with a failed modded hp/Asus Striker Extreme 680i Motherboard. Okay, well that's all to report for now.

Default MODIFICATION: PROJECT BLACKBIRD-003 DEFIANT EDITION™

Working fine so far, but that NB is still around 55c without overclocking.
Pulling my Sony DVD out and hooking up the slow a$$ ones it shipped with.
Need to install a fan controller in that bay to get proper control of my fan speeds.
It also has 4 temp monitors with alarms for both temp and fans.
Zalman LCD type.

Never did like using the MB fan headers, just more it has to deal with.

Other things can be done better also.
I'm in no rush now that I know it works, so...

I'll be lurking about...

From a newegg user review.

Other Thoughts:
Heres a trick for you guys. buy a corsair dominator fan and use it to cool the NB heatsink. amazingly if fits perfectly.
keeps temps around 50C instead of 60+!!! E8400, 2x2 corsair dominator 1066, evga 8800 gts 512,2 x 150gb raptors, x-fi fatality, xigmatek s-1283 (fits perfectly), ocz 700w psu, antec 900 case.
