Other Thoughts:
Heres a trick for you guys. buy a corsair dominator fan and use it to cool the NB heatsink. amazingly if fits perfectly.
keeps temps around 50C instead of 60+!!! E8400, 2x2 corsair dominator 1066, evga 8800 gts 512,2 x 150gb raptors, x-fi fatality, xigmatek s-1283 (fits perfectly), ocz 700w psu, antec 900 case.

Tried to "eyeball" the fit he's talking about..

No thanks!

I made some more mods, went with Amuro's advice cooling the NB with a fan, added a Zalman fan controller for the 2 radiator fans, the NB fan and the hard drive/front intake fan.

Here's the Zalman fan con from another build, it's the top one.
http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf4099wg1.jpg

Also installed a lian-li dust filter right up front which was a real pain, but got it in.

The hard drives get really dusty after a week.
Should have came with one.

The Radiator needs to be blown out every 2 weeks or so.
http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf4667go4.jpg

Added a 92mm panaflo fan on the back for exhaust and to keep the air flowing, that little Asus is what they had back there, but it doesn't push or pull air.
It blows down into the copper fins on the heatpipe assembly, which did nothing for cooling that anyway.

Here's some more fine work by the great VooDoo techs at HP Pro Labs.
http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf4744ya9.jpg

That's why my front usb ports stopped working on the SE 680i MB that died.

I fixed it and they work again.

They had this "sub woofer" for the mobo beeps speaker.
http://img405.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf4932hs2.jpg

And in the best place too, right under the bottom hard drive that you install the OS on.
http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf4361xk5.jpg

Tech said it was shielded, mmm, nope.
WTF is the reason for a speaker with a magnet that big to make beeps?
And why not just stick it on the ram for flux sake! <--tech

Well, just about to button it up enough for some test runs.
Will post a few more current pics or so and then make a new thread about the build.
Use this thread for shhittz and giggles.

Aight here we go, mods are done, hope they help the heat issue and some repairs were needed, as well as removing washers and screws rolling around the PSU area.

Found a tooth, 2 Enzyte pills, and some pubic hair in the empty bay. j/k LOL!

Anyway, it's hooked up and powered on the PSU, MB lights, sound card light and LCD poster are normal, no smoke or caps popping off the mobo so time to boot the...

Anyway, here's what I did.

Take the silly asus fans off the heatpipe fins, as they do nothing but blow dust into the fins.

Make sure the 2 screws are tight on the NB heatsink area, at least they used screws there.

The parts.
60 mm X 25 mm Max rpm 6200
http://img442.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5256go7.jpg

A piece of sound and vibration absorption matting that has a very strong sticky bottom, and will protect the video card it sits on.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/30...?tl=g7c117s208

http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5299re6.jpg

Put some double sided foam sticky tape on the bottom of the fan.
This is what I use and it sticks very well.
http://www.directa.co.uk/site/script...ategory_id=318

And then stick it on the black matting with the fan blowing air INTO the heatsink.
http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5396an6.jpg

I also added a 92 mm Panaflo fan for the rear exhaust.
http://img521.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5266rz3.jpg

NB temps before the fan was installed
http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5054pu7.jpg

After the fans were installed.

My best 3dmark06 to date.
Just a quick install of XP 64, some bios tweaking, pushed the Ultras a bit and got this.

Some pics, but not done with this yet.

http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5479um2.jpg

Front intake/Hard drive bay dust filter I added.

Led controls
http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5283th7.jpg

Replaced the cheap sata cables with true Sata2 rated ones and wire management was redone my way.
http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?i...scf5457kt2.jpg

That's about it for now as I will be relocating in a few days and will be without an ISP for a week or so.

Batgirl

Yes this is the same CapnKirk that was on these boards and was not the nicest person to any of the staff nor was he helpful. Ryan and Chris tried repeatedly to help him and when they offered a fix he would ignore them.

Oh you guys crack me up.
You people ignored me, jerked me around and tried to screw me out of 6 grand.

Maybe it's time to start posting all the BS e-mails you sent me and had poor Brendan do your dirty work with that last email which wanted me to agree to a bunch of crap.

All that is saved, all the proof of what really went on.
When I said I would show you the pics of what I had to go through and the shotty work on this Bird, you banned my account.

And that was after you said if I showed you, you would let me post.

VooDoo can speak to my lawyer and you can kiss my a$$.

Where would you like me to post the emails?

yeah, that guy was not very kind.
I had answered his questions, and repeatedly bashed everything related to the system. I think the only problem he was having, was the disappearing cd drive.
Now he goes on the other forum, and badmouths stuff he has no clue about. First of all, the processor is not soldered to the motherboard, that would be retarded. Plus the only cpu's which are soldered to the boards are in ultraportable pc's and via systems.
No intel board solders chips, and Asus definitely does not. There are over 600 contact points on the bottom of the processor, so explain how voodoo/hp would do that. They cannot perform that much magic.

Anyways, kinda shouldnt go bashing him, cause we would just be doing the same thing he was.

K-TRON

See, this is what i'm talking about.
I didn't say the CPU was soldered, I said the cmos chip!

No the drive problem was another guy!

You don't even own a BB for fuccs sake and telling people it was OK to flash with an Asus bios when there are 3 freaking warning sheets that say, DO NOT FLASH WITH ANY OTHER BIOS OTHER THAN VERSIONS FROM HP OR YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT AND VOID SUPPORT!

Send me some of whatever the hell you are smoking.
