We knew Blu-ray had 100GB and 200GB prototype a few years ago and now I noticed this:

a ****load of text on a board with the number 500 in the jumble. that obviously means 500GB discs ![]() odds are it's 500GB, but at this point, it's a number on a board. ![]() |

75 GB disc? Actually 100, 150 and 200 GB are already showcased and current players will be able to read those discs without firmware update. (unless it requires so)
Those are under development by TDK, Hitachi, Pioneer and JVC. I think each comes up with different solution so maybe we'll expect to see them in use for movies within next few years.

there is already a new disc out there will not work, firmware could fix, could is a big word. even if it might fix with some players/drives other people will be screwed. http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/18...th-bd-r-discs/

It says "Post Blu Ray", which could very well mean the next optical standard AFTER Blue Ray.
