I ran a few little benchmarks. While kinda old I got 53fps in Doom 3 with the highest settings on 8x anti-aliasing. I also ran 3dmark06 and I got a score of7690.

yeah your like me in that we need to get a new cpu/mobo/ram. But how do you like the game performance compared to your previous card?

You're only running 1? If you run 2, you'll probably get about 11k in 3Dmark06. Look at my sig, that's the highest I got right now. I want to overclock but Rivatuner isn't letting me, I don't know how to get it to work with SLi. I bet when I get my QX9650 and put my current project all together, I'll score about 15-18k.

I am pleased with the performance. It is better then I expected in many areas. I think I can last on this processor and ram another 18 months. Every game has worked very well on the highest settings at 1280x1024 except Medal of Honor Airborne. I think that might just be because of bad coding or it could be my processor I really don't know.

Yea, I'd say your scoring kind of low for SLI right now. I reran the test in Vista once I put it into a similar pc with a E6750 and I get 10140 marks. My SM2 score was about 4800 and the SM3.0 score was 4500. Cpu score is 2350. You should be getting a much higher score for those tests in SLI. The only thing is that the test is fairly low resolution so I'm sure if you were to crank the res it would probably scale better.

Yeah, that's what I said. My friend has a GTS(G92) and scores the same thing with a Q6600 B1(?). I'll test it with a higher res and then test again when I get my Intel CPU for my current project. The thing is that I ran 3DMark06 at default settings. I'll try it at my native resolution. That's one reason I want to get my own HDTV for my PC. My 42" is in the living room and my mom gets pissed when I use it as a monitor, lol.

EDIT: I got 11,831 at 1440x900.

What's interesting about that resolution is that you would think that it's actually a higher res, but in total pixel count it isn't.

1440 x 900 = 1296000
1280 x 1024 = 1310720

So you really won't see a difference until you goto either 16 x 12 or 16 x 10.

Scores exactly as it should though, just a hair higher than the 1280 benchmark.

Here some tests I ran compared to Q6600 on elitebastards.com review

Half Life 2 Episode 2

1920x1080

9600GT with Q6600: 64.3fps
8800GTX with 4400+: 45fps

1920x1080 16xAA & 16AF

9600GT with Q6600: 50.18fps
8800GTX with 4400+: 30fps

Lost Planet

1920x1080

9600GT with Q6600: Cave: 56.8fps Snow: 44.6fps
8800GTX with 4400+: Cave: 21fps Snow: 20fps

Athlon 64 X2 4400+ cant keep up with Geforce 8800GTX, it seriously need upgrade to Q9450. Avoiding Phenom, the quad core wont give you much improve performance in games compare to Athlon 64 X2 and also triple core will give you lower game performance than Athlon 64 X2 4400+ with previous Geforce 7800GTX card scored around 4850 3DMark 06 2 years ago while Phenon 8600 with Geforce 7900GS card which has equal performance as Geforce 7800GTX scored 4624 3DMark 06.

ummm, lost planet is completly gpu limited, and so is half life 2 at those settings. so what i believe ur saying is that a 9600gt is faster than an 8800gtx.

I hate those comparison reviews. I don't even know if the 9600GT is in SLI or not in that review. How are you going to compare 2 products with different CPU's? They confuse me, lol. I don't know what's faster or not, I'm just happy with my results. I bet when I get my Q6600, I'm gonna get even better performance. (Damn, I ordered a Q9450 and it was canceled, then a QX9650 and I canceled it because it was a lot. Now I have a Q6600 coming, lol.)

No, Geforce 8800GTX is not GPU limited, it is a very powerful GPU but my Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo socket 939 is not a very powerful CPU, it is now 3 years old. Really need to upgrade to Yorkfield soon.

Let me show you how 6 games scaled with Geforce 8800GTX on all CPUs from dual core AM2 Athlon 64 X2s to quad core Phenoms and Yorkfield Tomshardware AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition A New Hope? reviewed in January 2008.

Is Geforce 8800GTX GPU limited? No
Is Athlon 64 X2 4400+ CPU limited? Yes
