Default Re: BFGTech 9600 GT OC & Gentoo lockup

From what I can tell temperatures on this card seem indeed to be correct - I'll still have to test in windows to be sure but after testing the card for a good 1 1/2 hours I opened the sidepanel and the card only seems very slightly warm to the touch - which means it's probably only a small bit above body temperature, which seems to go along with the 40-45c readings I've been getting at idle.

Mind you this is the 675/1800 EVGA - not the 740/1950 version that was tested on this site so all in all the temperatures seem to be in line with what could be expected.
Tbh so far I'm very happy with this card - I rather have a cooler and therefore quieter card and system (and a bit less performance) than the frying pan that the 8800gt seems to be ;-)

After considering the 8800gs for some time I ordered a 9600GT (same price, faster, 512Mb). I hope it works ok.

Could you tell if the 2D slowness bug also affects the 9600 ? I see reports all over how slow 8xxx cards are on the desktop, which isn't really acceptable.
