Default So What the Best Soundcard right now?

I hear that the Auzintech cards are good but i see:

ASUS has a new card out in a pci-ex flavor that kicks ass.

Jacks light up supports eax and is bundled with nice software.

Creative doesn't really care for drivers so much anymore and their pci-ex version sucks dick.

So whi is the gamers choice these days?

I'd never give up my Audigy 2, but the reality is since it's a Creative product, driver support will eventually dry up. Hell, I had to give through 1,000 hoops to get it working on XP x64. Even still it does not really work since I only get 2.1.

Anyway, I'd like to hear the Asus Xonar.

I heard good things about the Asus Xonar, and it comes bundled with cakewalk and sonar music software.

I can't say much since i don't have one yet, but i know a guy here,"THEBIGONE" who has one and he says it sounds much better than an XFI and he is one of those guys with alot of money to build a ultimate gaming rig that blows away any here.

Thats a card you can't **** with.

PCI version.

Only bad thing i might see is ASUS will release a driver for this card and you can go back in a year and see if their is a new driver and you will see the same one from a year ago kinda like Creative does.

I believe soundcard companies should release drivers like GPU companies.

Na, i know him he is a local guy that posts here cuz i post here.

He swares that it is better than the xfi fatlity he had.

It looks like a kick ass card.

I know their fan boys here for Creative but Creative hasn't brought anything to the table in over year which sux bigtime.

He is one of those guys who knows his hardware and can afford any pc or component out their, hell he has a quad extreme 45nm with 2 3870 x2's in Crossfire and ASUS maximus with DDR3.

Toms says its a damn nice card for those who want highend audio and gaming aswhell.

LOL@ Asus thing. They are no better than Creative - packaging the card with a lite version of a popular sequencing software. I'm a pro audio/musican user and would never use an enthusiast board to produce a movie/soundtrack, etc. The audio hardware we use costs thousands of dollars and is often modified to fit our needs. Comparing the sound to onboard or gaming soundcards is like comparing the sound of a pioneer receiver to a Krell preamplifier!

Your opinion in this matter is moot since you don't have an open slot for a sound card.

soundwise.

i prefer the m-audio series. however, i dont think they put a lot of work into their windows drivers. (the linux drivers receive a lot of releases because of a community driven development)
