Geforce 7600GT AMD64 Blackscreen
I've read several posts here in the forum and looked for information on google aswell but couldn't solve the problem.
So I hope some of you can give me more information
I have the following hard- and software:
GeForce 7600GT PCI-X
Asrock Alive Xfire esata2 (AMD 690G/AM2, latest Bios installed)
Ubuntu 7.10 AMD64/Ubuntu 7.10 32bit PAE/Windows XP
When installing the nvidia driver, everything seems to be working but i always end up with a black screen when starting X and gdm. I followed the instructions for Ubuntu and the nvidia driver gets loaded without errors.(tested binaries from the nvidia homepage, latest drivers aswell as beta drivers there). lsmod |grep nvida shows its is there.
I've tried connecting the monitor with the VGA and DVI cord both with the same result.Another monitor is also just showing the blackscreen, no matter if Ubuntu 2.6.22 Amd 64 kernel or a Vanilla 2.6.24 Kernel for 64bit.
I have no trouble whatsoever in Windows or with Ubuntu 32bit using the same driver versions from nvidia.
I've seen similiar Problems with an ASUS Board and integrated ATI graphic card but this was solved by an BIOS update.
An ATI Card with fgrlx enabled is also working for my pc and Bios was flashed to Version 2.5.
So I assume it is an issue with AMD64 and the Nvidia driver?
Can you help me here?
Thanks alot in advance
