Solution for my whiteout display.

Hardware: NVidia Quadro NVS135M, Dell D830, 15.4 Wide XGA - 1280x800, dual-core
OS: Fedora 8 with livna repo
nvidia driver 169.09 from repo gave whiteout display with black stripe, I could Ctrl-Alt_Del and Enter key back to console.
After much google and forum reading, this is what worked;
I used a DVI_Recover iso from "http://www.jeffgeiger.com/Stuff/DVI_Recover.htm"
I had to use a different parameter to get my edid dump "-m 2". When I compared it to the dump in the Xorg.0.log file it was only different by two bytes (the log file said that the EDID was invalid) byte 55 and 56 should be D6, 1B instead of 4C, 1D.
I creted an edid.bin file and used the CustomEDID screen option.

Worked like a charm.

Dear Sir,

I face the same problem i use D830 with NVidia Quadro NVS140M, i install kmod-nvidia and still can't work, when i change in xorg.conf
Driver "nvidia"
to
Driver "nv"
the xstart work fine, i read your post and i try to follow but i can't run autoexec.bat or ddcw.exe through fedora even i try to run it using wine
i right click the file and choose to open it with wine emulator and nothing appears
Could you help me, i really need to keep using fedora and stop using windows
