Xfi's Are Really A POS

I thought the hissing sound was fixed on these cards but no there not.

My wife uses a Nvidia 590 SLI chipset with an XFI Fatility and she claims she still hears hissing on the speakers.

For some reason in the beginning when you install everything, nothing but after use for say a week or 2, the hissing starts.

This is why i have a beef with Creative when it comes to drivers.

This was a big problem with Nforce 4 and Creative XFi.s but the hissing still exists.

The ASUS Xoner is on its way now.

I pulled that POS and gave here onbaord audio and it works like a charm for her.

I even heard they had an ASUS striker that needed and update cuz of the hissing crap form these POS.

2 year old problem never resolved.

For some strange reason when i decided to disable the card in device manager, the mouse speed went up so yes the Xfi is also tempermental.

I still like the cards but when there on Intel Chipsets.

Nforce never was Creative Xfi's friend either.

eh, have you tried to shield your card from the EMI coming from your PSU and graphics card? That can cause all sorts of problems.

The hissing sound sounds like a hardware issue or crappy interconnect between your source and your speakers.

X-fis are pretty awesome cards, well.. the non-crap ass entry level ones anyways. You can get really good sound quality if you do it right

I've used my xfi on two different nforce4 boards (abit, msi) and have never had a single problem with it (Vista, or XP).

Now that I think about it, this is my third creative sound card (live, Audigy, xfi) and I've never had a problem with any of them.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

People shouldn't have to go through that just to enjoy a product.

I buy a soundcard like ive been for the last 13 years and install it and use it.

well, where is your psu located now? is it at the top or the bottom of the case?

get a usb sound card if you aren't willing to shield your card then. It is very simple.

My X-fi have never given me an issue either. I've used it on both nforce4 and nforce 6.

No issues over here at craingers. I enjoy yhr intall sound card. The x-fi is probanbly the one for games. tho music is pretty nice around it too.

How would you go about shielding the xfi?
