OEM Q9450s are/soon will be in stock in the UK but there's at least one retailer claiming they have to charge more for the OEMs because their source is charging more for them, other retailers are also charging more for the OEMs chips. Of course it could just be the retailers price gouging and not the suppliers (someone is).

I would have thought Intel could make more on their retail CPUs but I suppose the plan was to keep their OEMs happy.

Well, this is the chip I'm waiting for. Interested in getting an OEM one as I'll be using high-end air cooling.

Got it saturday, currently have it clocked at 3.2ghz to let the Arctic Silver 5 cook in, then I might take it up to 3.6. Stays pretty cool, haven't seen it get above 30C yet actually. Using a Thermaltake Ultima 90.

Word of advise, don't use an aftermarket cooler with a backside mounting plate on a mobo with a backside heatsink. Holy hell was it a bitch to modify that plate to get it to mount over the heatsink. Gigabyte EX38-DS6 mobo.

Can't you just remove the backside crazzy cool heatsink. I am sure the DQ6 comes with instructions to do this. Thats why I went for the DS5 as I didn't see the need for the heatsinks on the back of the board.

From what I understood its all one peice and you have to remove the topside stuff too, and I didnt want to have to buy a HS+fan for the chipset after buying a heatpipe cooled mobo, and I certainly wasnt going to let it go heatsink-less. I made it work, eventually.
