Unhappy Re: Intel now shipping 45nm Yorkfield CPUs for next week

all the UK shops quickly sold out of the few OEM chips they managed to get hold of. for a chip that was due in January I don't know what intel are up to. I get the impression they released a couple of chips so they can tell everyone they met their Q1 schedule.

stupidly when the OEM chips came out I decided to wait for the Retail version I pre-ordered and by the looks of it I'm going to be waiting for at least a couple of weeks (if not much, much, longer).

Damn, it seems like 9450 won't be worth it for me because I want to OC the bat out of hell of this thing.

I searched for results with 9450 and Maximus Formula what I have, and it's not a great result. Rampage seems to have better result and has exact same layout, but X48.

I'll be happy with 450MHz * 8 = 3.6 GHz

About the Asus Rampage X48, check this:
http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3208&p=7

Tweaking the tRD properly can raise the bandwidth up to a 20%, and lower the latency up to a 33%

SSE4 is the most important feature for me, cause i want to start to code with them.

What I find is that the best stable OC is 3.4GHz on my board.

Thumbs down Re: Intel now shipping 45nm Yorkfield CPUs for next week

Scan (UK) have confirmed that their new ETA for this chips is: 30/07/2008
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=743028
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=795731

I can't believe I didn't go for an OEM chip when they were available.

It's a very good OC too. Prolly it runs very cool & quiet.

The 9450 has a very good overclock, but not on my board.

2.66 up to 3.4? IMO it's better to have 3.6 or even higher.

I'm going to wait until this summer whether I should swap my motherboard for a better overclocker or not.

Yeah, the mobo is limiting the OC, due to the low multiplier, but, as you know, clock speed isn't everything, cause, we can gain more performance by tweaking properly the memory subsystem, for example.
