Exclamation X restart will hard lock system

Hi, I am having trouble with MODELINE (according to log)...when I startx -- -verbose 5 --logverbose 5 and all is well. However, my system will freeze when switching from VT7 or when logout (ie, restarting X)

- nVidia NV17 [GeForce4 MX 460] (rev a3)
- driver ver 1.0-4363
- RH9 kernel 2.4.20-8
- video bios revision
Model: GeForce4 MX 460
IRQ: 11
Video BIOS: 04.17.00.30.00
Card Type: AGP
- ONE P3-550mhz
- SuperMicro P6-DBE dual processor board

Below is my XF86Config

# file minus the extension (like ".txt" or ".db"). There is normally

# By default, Red Hat 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of

# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
# Option "XkbModel" "microsoft"

# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
