Default gnome-terminal corruption w/ 180.06

I'm seeing text corruption in the gnome-terminal program, which is not seen in xterm for example. It doesn't appear at all times, though. Using Ubuntu Intrepid:

fackamato@fackamato-laptop:~$ nvidia-settings -q glyphcache -q initialpixmapplacement

  Attribute 'GlyphCache' (fackamato-laptop:0.0): 1.
The valid values for 'GlyphCache' are in the range 0 - 1 (inclusive).
'GlyphCache' can use the following target types: X Screen.

  Attribute 'InitialPixmapPlacement' (fackamato-laptop:0.0): 2.
The valid values for 'InitialPixmapPlacement' are in the range 0 - 4 (inclusive).
'InitialPixmapPlacement' can use the following target types: X Screen.
fackamato@fackamato-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux fackamato-laptop 2.6.28-rc5test #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Nov 16 14:49:27 GMT 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
For example, I typed 'ls' to list my home dir, and nothing happened (terminal didn't update). I pressed return again, and I got all the files.

Attached bug report. Screenshot of the problem can be seen here (260KiB):

Edit: Using compiz effects.
