Hi all
Just installed Kubuntu 7.10 on a new system. All working ok except onboard sound. The mixer icon has a red cross and basically Kubuntu thinks the pc does not have any sound card. Here it is here, I believe i uses NVIDIA® MCP73U/PV/V Chipset. Are nvidia releasing linux drivers for the sound on this chipset? http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...0&maincat_no=1 I'm running Kernel 2.6.22-14-generic Any ideas? Cheers, toe http://www.vistaisrubbish.com |

Hi,
I almost have the same motherboard with MCP73 and I had the same problem on xUbuntu I found a solution into the online documentation Maybe it can work for you, so i'll translate it from french xubuntu web site 1 - Enable backports : Système→Administration→Software sources in the tab "Updates" enable backports 2 - Install the paquet "linux-backports-modules" I was unable to install it by the GUI so I used the terminal (fr Kubuntu : K → Système → Konsole) and enter the following command : Code:
sudo aptitude install linux-backports-modules then reboot the computer and voilà (I hope) ps : have you successfully enabled proprietary drivers for onboard video card ? |
