Default When is something going to be done about the crashing problem!!

I have sent bug reports twice, with the new drivers, anything in the 169 or 171 series, when you click the k icon in konqueror to open a new window, x crashes, sometimes with the first click, sometimes after a few, almost always if done as superuser, whats going on!!!

something that bad sounds like an issue with your libraries or machine...

It has nothing to do with bad libraries, its the newer nvidia drivers, try it for yourself, if you are running any of the 169 or 171 series drivers, try opening a twin window in konqueror by hitting the k icon in the top right corner, I am sure you will see what I mean.

wait, you are using X as root?

btw, your problem really sounds like some distro f* up.

Works without problem here! (Opensuse 10.3)

Nope, I do not.
I did, once, on a Ubuntu box,
and guess what: it was a library problem there.

Try to get X debug information
or try running a new session (or a XNest) in gdb

The problem is not a distro problem, Its the same with 3 different distros over 4 boxes. Very simple, open konqueror, hit the k icon to open a duplicate konqueror window, X crashes. Sometimes it takes a few duplicate windows, sometimes just one, if you choose to open konqueror in super user mode, you are virtually guaranteed a crash with the first duplicate window.

Exactly what kind of library problem are you talking about and if indeed it is, why is it that this behaviour doesn't occur at all after returning to the 100.14.23 driver?

Works fine for me. I can hit the K-Icon over and over again, even logged in as root. Nothing crashed for me. I'm working with gentoo unstable, version 169.12 of the nvidia-drivers and 2.6.25-rc6 kernel on a GeForce Go 7400.

It was, as far as I remember, left over GL libraries
which caused the crash.

How did you install the driver? Manually?
If yes: you shouldn't. At least not if you don't
exactly know what you are doing.

And I can, as others in this thread,
click on the k or use ctrl+n as many times
as I like and it still doesn't crash.

Again: make sure your install is clean.
Try to get further information, with strace or gdb.

It is hard to fix a bug if you are not able to reproduce it.

because when the crahs happens some 100.14.23 files are ****ing around in your system?

btw, when your X crashs, there are several places where you find error messages. kdm.log. Xorg.0.log (or .old, if X restarts automatically), maybe even dmesg.

How about posting them? I am pretty sure that you f* up your system in strange ways.

oh, and how many times do I have to click the 'world' (its a little globe for me, not a K), until X crashes? 12 times? 14? 20? I am at 16 atm.

which bug-reports anyway?
maybe that one? and where's the nvidia-bug-report.log.. I'm to stupid to find it?!

Btw, 30 clicks on the konqueror-K-icon and still counting... (although the konqueror is really SLOOOW with so many windows)
