Hello,
We have been using Quadro 570 and Quadro 560 Graphics Adapter in our workstations. Quadro 570 presents a high CPU usage compared to Quadro 560 even though it is a better and newer card. We installed, - CentOS 5.1 - NVidia driver 169.12 software to our workstation. First we installed Quadro 560 and run the "overlay" (source attached). This program - Refreshes the main plane and the overlay plane every second. - At every second a yellow line is draw on the overlay plane. - Uses double buffer overlay with 8 bit index color. The CPU usage of the program is almost zero and it is not even in process table when we checked with "ps -ef". Then we removed Quadro 560 and installed Quadro 570 at the same machine. We did not change any other parameter. The same program causes 4% CPU usage when we checked with "ps -ef". It is not an acceptable CPU usage if you consider the graphical operations in the program. We tested with 171 series beta driver. The result is high CPU usage and no change. I attached the bug report log with Quadro 570 installed and the "overlay.cc" source code. Do we miss any parameter in xorg.conf ? |
