Default 790i Build need help and advice

Hey all, been waiting around 5 years to build a new PC and finally decided to go at it, I'd appreciate any input / crits / suggestions you may have.
Bold is the important parts, rest is my worries and questions.

Heres the build currently:

Intel Q9450
(Can't find any Retail boxed ones yet, might have to go OEM but not sure of a cooler if I do, also is Arctic silver still good these days?)

EVGA 790i Ultra

SLi 8800 GT Most likely but.. 9800GX2 or a 289$ 8800GTX is tempting too.
(I'm Concerned about 256bit mem interface on the 9800GX2, Gaming res is 1680x1050)
(It's hard to decide between the three, I think.. maybe the best idea is to get one 8800GTX and upgrade when the GT200 comes out? 8800GTX = 289$ at newegg now Or is it worth the extra 50$ or so for SLi 8800GT? I read they perform better up to 50% in some cases then a single GTX)

G.SKILL 4GB of DDR3 1333 Cas 9 or G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1600 Cas 7
(1600 seems to be expensive or is it worth it?, can't decide between Corsair or G.Skill.)

PC Power & Cooling S75QB EPS12V 750W Power Supply
(60A on the +12v rail, ONE 12V rail, do I want one of the PS's with 4 rails with 19A+ on them?)
(on the 9800GX2 it shows it wants a 8pin PCI-e connector and a 6pin PCIe, I know theres an adapter but... if this is going to be a trend, maybe I should get one with 2 6pin and 2 8pin? I don't want to spend over 150$ on a Power supply, but also don't want it to be junk)
(Saw this list http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce...wr_supply.html of 9800GX2 Approved power supplies, even if I don't get a 9800GX2 I'd like to have a future proof PS for years to come thats quality)

Coolermaster Cosmos S Case (Or a Lian Li V2000A maybe)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1
(Does the fatality even matter that has X-Ram?)
(Not up on the latest soundcards, open for suggestions, as with any other part)

Trying to keep it under $2,000.

If anyone can help me make this build better and refine it, or add advice. I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks.

A single 8800GTX will be fine if you are only going to game at 1680x1050.
As for the memory, i'd get the 4Gb DDR3 1600 CL7. It's not that much more than the cheaper Ram and the G-Skill is good. Both jAkUp and I use it.
Rest of the build looks good.

Thanks Muppet and bob saget. I'll go with the G.Skill 1600 CL7. Only stuck on the Graphics Card, Power Supply, and CPU Cooler as it looks like I'll have to go OEM on the Q9450 unless I wait untill the end of april (which I don't want to do)

As for the 8800GTX, you recommend that based on price savings aye?
Or it'll perform better at 1680x1050 over SLi 8800GT, and also save hassle over SLi incompatable games.

Another question on the power supply does it matter much if it's 60A over one rail +12v or is it better to have 4 +12v rails and 20A on each of them.

ie:
PC Power & Cooling S75QB EPS12V 750W Power Supply
+5V @ 30A
+12V @ 60A (Powerful Single Rail)
-12V @ 0.8A
+3.3V @ 24A
+5VSB @ 3A
(Four 6-pin PCI-E Connectors)

vs

COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-750-ACAA-A1 ATX12V 750W (Not sure on the quality of Cooler master?)
+3.3V@25A,+5V@25A,+12V1@19A,+12V2@19A,
+12V3@19A, +12V4@19A,-12V@0.8A,+5VSB@3.5A
(Two 6-pin Two 8-pin PCI-E Connectors)

Or is there a better recommendation for a good quality power supply.

An 8800GTX is more than powerful enough at the resolution.
As for the PSU, I think a single 12volt rail is better. At least with that, you don't have to worry about overloading one of the rails.

Okay, Thank you very much for your help.
Just did a rough system in newegg, price difference between an evga 8800GTX ($289) and SLi 8800GT ($358) = 69$.
Should I still go for the 8800GTX? Or it's actually better then SLi 8800GT at 1680x1050.

Now to figure out a good cooler for the Q9450 OEM and if Arctic silver is still prime for thermal compounds.

If you decide not to go SLI, you may want to get an intel chipset. Also if you plan to run Vista, stick with the integrated audio, forget about the X-Fi, the driver sux hard.

I might do SLi in the future even if I don't now so I'll stick to the 790i. But thanks for the heads up.

As for audio, doesn't integrated take away cpu cycles and hurt performance just a little sometimes?

The Vista drivers for the X-fi are ok. It's the drivers for the previous generation that suck. Or are none existent.

But using an X-Fi card is better then using internal with the proper drivers in Vista I hope?

Also, pretty much the only thing hanging me up now is the cooler. Worried about something not fitting since the 790i is pretty new and a new layout I hear.
Any suggestions?

Heres what I'm planning on going with now thanks to the nvnews communities help:

Intel Q9450 OEM (Need CPU cooler that will work with the 790i)
EVGA 790i Ultra
EVGA 8800 GTX (This will hold out until the GT200 is viable)
G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1600 CL7
PC Power & Cooling S75QB EPS12V 750W Power Supply (Wish its cables were modular)
Coolermaster Cosmos S Case
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1

I've been using an X-Fi card with Vista since Vista came out and haven't run into many issues. I've used Vista 32 bit and 64 bit with an X-Fi platinum, Fatal1ty, and Fatal1ty Extreme Gamer. The sound difference between my onboard and the X-Fi was just phenominal.
