Default NAS

I have an aging simpletech 250GB NAS that I need to trash. I can't decide whether to just buy a new larger one or use some of my old system parts and build one. I have an asus p5n32 sli deluxe board to start with. It has gigabit lan which is what I want... are there any advantages of building?

Default Re: NAS

Possibly cost, and also expandability. When you run out of space next time you can just throw another drive in there and assuming you use a NAS setup that's properly configured you should be able to just add it to the array. It might be cheaper too depending on how much of the old hardware you already have.

On the other hand you'll have to do the setup yourself if you build it. I assume the prebuilt ones are pretty much plug and play.
