Default GTA IV PC will be first game to use quad core

First the good news...

Rockstar released the official PC system requirement for GTA IV below:

Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900

Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP) 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)
18 GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870

GTA IV will be the first game to take full advantage of quad core if you want to have the best game performance. Look like November is good time to upgrade my PC.

Now the bad news...

GTA IV is delayed by 2 weeks to 2 December 2008.

Saw this earlier this morning, pretty wacky stuff. GTA 4 for the PC better be WAY better looking than the 360, especially asking for a Quad.

Irreverent if it mentions it or not. DiRT, Lost Planet, Unreal 3 games have been using Quad for a while now.

why is it wacky stuff? of it needs 3 cores on 360 to run, why is it strange that 4th core on PC will help?

why is hard drive space different between minimal and recommended?

16GB vs 18GB

different texture packs?

Well, your thread is about the "first game to use quad core". Not the first game that recommends a quad core.

Supreme Commander has been using quad core since it came out in february 2007. that's almost 2 years ago. And I think it's still one of the best implemented ones too. Performance somewhat linearly increases as you add more cores. That's impressive.

On PC Supreme Commander (Feb 07) was out before Lost Planet (Jun 07)and showed improved performance with more cores in tests.

Edit: Saw that einstein_314 mentioned it before I posted. I just wanted to look up the apple to apple comparison on hardocp above.
