Default Manual Fan Control Unavailable with system tools and 180.xx 32bit xp drivers

I have a BFG 8800GTS 640 OC2 "special edition" on my e8400 intel system with an asus P5N-D motherboard and since this model was designed with a 90nm G80 core it tends to run very hot and I find that i really benefit from using the manual fan control set to maximum so the gpu temps dont spike above 70 deg celcius. I've never had any issues with the manual fan control while using 178.xx 32bit win xp geforce driver with ntune or system tools however after upgrading to the 180.xx series drivers the manual fan controls are greyed out and cannot be manually adjusted.

I always use the latest nforce drivers available for my mainboard directly from nvidia but still have the same issues. I definitely convinced the smbus drivers are working because all the gpu, hard disk and cpu temps are reported in nvidia system monitor but the fan control has gone awol. Anyone have a suggestion?

Rivatuner can set the fan control and it works. Must be a bug in the recent nvidia driver. Thanks for the tip

Evga's precision tool works great and is very light weight.

For working fan control with the Geforce 180.XX, you have to use the newest Nvidia System Tools v6.03. Nvidia changed something with fan control and the older versions fan control is greyed out as you have seen.

NVIDIA System Tools with ESA Support
Version: 6.03
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Window...stem_tools.exe

Working fan control 180.84 and NST v6.03
