Default These are without a doubt the WORST 120mm fans.

I bought 3x120mm red LED Logisys fans. They sound like a ****ing engine.

They vibrate. They're noisy. They suck so ****ing bad.

Never buy stupid **** from Logisys.

Thanks for the tip.

Have you tried slowing them down to see if that makes them more tolerable? Or are ya just gonna return them?

Went down to 60%. They still rattle.

I use Antec Tri-cool myself. They come with speed controllers built in. On low they are silent, medium is tolerable, can't be heard over high end GPUs, high however is loud. But they do shift a lot of air. One nifty feature is no matter how low you run the fan, the LEDs don't dim like with some fans. ::

For my CPU fan I use a Scythe 120mm fan. It's a lot quieter than the Antecs at high speed, but doesn't move as much air.

Scythe S-FLEXs are the absolute best 120mm fans I've ever bought.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185006

They're not super high CFM, but they're still pretty high. Just a pair is plenty to keep my case cool enough that my 8800GTX never spins up on anything other than Crysis and they are by far the quietest fans I've ever used. They're quieter than some Zalman 120mms I had that were 30% lower RPM and CFM and I already thought the Zalmans were a step above everything else until I got the Scythes.

If you're over the age of 15, forget about silly LED fans. The might of a PC is determined by it's performance, not how obnoxious it looks.

I had a pair of those at one point too, do not trust the specs for the noise, they are loud as heck at comparable RPM/CFM of better fans.

Any fan that's ball bearing is going to have a high pitched whine from the bearings. If you're not senstive to high range sounds, it might not bug you; unfortunately I am sensitive to high range sounds. I despise ball bearing fans. Sleeves are quieter, the problem is they don't last nearly as long as ball bearings; they can dry up in a year. The Scythes are FDB, which is really just a fancy sleeve, but it's sealed so it should theorhetically last super long. I've had mine a year and a half and they're as quiet as the day I bought them.

I have some Papst fans in my rig. They're reasonably quiet under 50% speed, audible over that. I guess some people would consider them noisy at full speed though.
