Default Geforce 7150M go support

I'm trying to find out definitively before I buy a laptop if the 7150M go is supported by the drivers.

None of the drivers list it as being supported under 64bit linux.

There are two threads from last year that say it should work,
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=100053
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=98761

Could either AaronP or Zander say "officially" if it does?

Or could someone who actually has it running with full 3D acceleration / compositing let me know?

Thanks

Kim

Hi AaronP,

I saw that, but I'm still not sure.

It says that it supports a "GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M" in that list, but it specifically lists the "Go" variants seperately, like "GeForce Go 7600".

So is the "GeForce 7150M" the same as a GeForce Go 7150M?

Thanks

Kim

I don't believe there's a product called "GeForce Go 7150M". The only ones I can find are "GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M" and "GeForce 7150 / nForce 630i" (which is the non-mobile version).

Apparently HP have one :-)

Most of their 17" laptops list that as the chipset.

For an example check out the HP dv9623

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3550136

or the HP dv9608

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=41610&lang=en

These are what I am considering, but I need to ensure that the drivers work with it.

Thanks

Huh. I'll track down the source of confusion here and get back to you. In the meantime, I'm pretty sure that all GPUs in the 7 series are supported by the current driver releases.

Hi again, kimxk. I've been informed that "GeForce 7150M" is the correct name for the product and that there is no separate "GeForce Go 7150M" product. We're following up with HP to clear up the confusion.

For the benefit of others, I have the laptop with the 7150 in it running perfectly under the 169.12 driver on OpenSUSE 10.3 64bit.
