I'm sure its possible I have seen some people get OCs far and beyond what I would expect them. I have 3 65 NM 9800GTX cards. But they can only reach about 730 Mhz core and 1800 on the shaders. I'm sure there are some impressively binned 55 NM 9800GTX out there just as there are some 65 NM 9800GTX cards.

Nice overclock btw.

Thumbs up Re: Official "I just got my GeForce 9800 GTX" thread

I love them in every aspect. I upgraded from 2 8800GT Water cooled. I was having problems with displaying dual monitors on a 24" monitor and a 42" HDTV with the 8800GT's. Now I purchased 2 9800GTX+ so I get the Audio off my X-Fi card and a Very nice picture through the DVI-to-HDMI cable to the HDTV. Haven't decide if I'm gonna water cool these cards, It's a big hassle.

3Dmark06 18,178 on the first run. 3k pts higher than my SLI 8800GT score.

I purchased my EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512MB card about 1 week ago. All I can say is ...WOW. This thing OC's like no other card I've ever owned!!

853 mem (Default 740)
2050 shader (default 1883)
1180 mem (Default 1100)

All with stock air cooling. And it runs cool...never goes above 65degrees w/ full load (1hr playing Crysis). I haven't tried to go any further, but I believe I haven't it the max OC yet. I cannot beleive the headroom these cards have. The 55mm chip sure has made a difference. You can get much faster clock speeds and cooler temps at the same time.

Simply awesome.

I got two ASUS EN9800GT ULTIMATE/HTDP/512M and they came with a free game and was just $149 plus a $25 rebate ,makeing both of them just $250 for the SLI set-up.What makes them great is they are really 9800GTX and overclock like cazy. They come with 128 Stream Processors and are clocked at 725/1750/2000and they overclock to 850/2048/2250.I plan on running them at 800/2000/2150 .People say they are a rebranded 8800GTS but they over clock like a 9800GTX+.Plus I like that they are just 9 inches long. Some sites has this haveing the G92b chip inside it.That would explain the great overclocking.

I got my new comp about 10 days ago with an Xpert Vision 9800GTX+, 512mb (hSLI with onboard 8200 has issues...)
First impressions are WOW! This is awesome!
3dMark score of 18000 and CoD4 looks and plays like i didnt know it could.
Then the drivers spoilt all that, but thats for another thread where im hoping to find my answers.

Im currently using a 19" VGA flatscreen, would I lose a great deal of performance on the 9800 GTX+ because of this? (I've been told I will rely on my processor too much but benchmarking websites test games on 1440 x 900, a resolution I can use)

Currently running:
Intel E6750 2.66 Dual Core
3GB XMS2 Corsair
P5N32-E SLI plus motherboard

I want a new graphics card to play Empire: Total War. Is the 9800 GTX+ the right one for me?

Cheers,
Griff

Get yourself a good 22" monitor and run that sucker at 1680x1050. Your 9800GTX+ will run just fine at that rez. You should be able to enable all eye candy for some really good graphics. I had a EVGA 9800GTX+ before my current 260 , and it was a sweet card. No need to spend the extra bucks on a 24" monitor though, as your setup will chug abit at 1900x1200.
