Default Kernel 2.6.25 released

So now 2.6.25 is official, will we be getting an NVidia driver that is 2.6.25 compliant soon? That would be nice ...

well, if you ignore the useless warning... 173.08 is already 2.6.25 compatible.
nvidia made patches for the older drivers:
STICKY!! ... (just in case you have ignored it...)

I saw those but 173.08 performance sucks on my modern dual NVidia 8700M setup. Ideally, a patch for 171.06 would work for me. I guess I could troll through the code changes and translate them for 171.06.

Oops: My bad for not reading to patch 171.06 with the 169.12 patch.

At least your card works under 2.6.25. I can't even get the module compiling on mine >.>

Machine runs a GeForce4MX 440 8x (hence I rely on the legacy modules) on an NForce2 board. Both devices made by Asus.

Looks like I'll be going back to 2.6.24.4 until this problem is fixed.

Testimonial.
My systems (lappy and tower) work flawlessly so far (over 30 hours) with 2.6.25 and 169.12-patch.

@obra: you can safely ignore these messages; please see earlier threads on the topic for details. The problem will be fixed in a future driver release.
