They made 5ghz on water with a C1 stepping QX9770. The QX9650 is only available in C0 at this time.

They've also done 4.7GHz on air with the QX9650, just because it can be "done" on *instert cooling method here* doesn't mean it's even remotely safe to run for more than extremely limited benching. Hopefully if you plan on more then that, it's not the only reason you bought one over your QX9650 but congrats on your cpu, enjoy it while it lasts, either before nehalem or degradation.

Thank you. Nehalem is next on my list. Enjoy your CPU, as well. Either before degradation, catastrophic failure, a meteorite hits the earth, you pour coffee on it, or the andromeda galaxy collides with our own.

Yes I am very much looking forward to putting my QX9650 under phase cooling. It's taking a bit longer for my build to complete that I had planned, but he is making a special unit for me, which makes me more excited LOL !

This is the Evap which is a new version that is he making and he has not yet released any photo's of the insides yet. Right now the unit is being tunned per spec. that I have requested.

But the QX9770 is a Great Chip and I am sure you will be happy with it ! One might end up in this new rig.

I'm going with water. I've considered phase for a long time and have decided it just isn't appealing aesthetically. I don't like the idea of a gigantic secondary case beneath my computer and a large hose going through the bottom. It's just too extreme for me. With the 45nms out 4ghz+ is fine on water, so, I don't see a need. But I bet you will get some serious clocks outta that baby. Congrats and good luck.
