Saz which drivers are you using? I've only had Vista installed for a couple of weeks now but I haven't had any problems.

no nvidia related errors for over a year. last time i had problems with nvidia forceware drivers was in January-Feb 07 with first release drivers.

nvidia display driver = 175.63
nvidia sata driver = don't remember version but its 10 something, from Jan or Feb 08
nvidia NIC = also from Jan or Feb 08

XP is fine

Unless if DX10 is a must for you and you are ready to compromise with better graphics but for less performance...then Vista is the way to go

They probably needed more cash so they can take over Yahoo so they sell an OS and an Office Suite to make the money.

I think their is alot more to Vista, its media support and game support is good but it does better with multi cores and ram so more cores more ram, more OS unlike older OSes.

Please elaborate

I find it funny that the thread started with being asked for reasons to install vista, and not in a critical way but honestly asking what itís strong points are .
so far the majority of the positive feedback has been people saying itís not as bad as itís reputation but very few have mentioned any strengths or areas at which Vista excels.

Some people have stated the sound quality is better under vista, and some say they think it looks better which is subjective. There has to be more to it than that to justify the expense of the software and meeting itís notably higher hardware requirements.

so please rather than just saying Iíve had no problems let us know what Vistaís strong points are and in what areaís it Shines and offer improvements over XP ??

Thank You

Gimlis

To keep it short and simple:

- Superb security. Get x64 version and you'll encounter little to no viruses.

- MUCH more stable than XP.

- Faster, provided you have 2GB Ram.

- In-built driver support is great. Lots of legacy stuff surprisingly works.

- Little touches that are nice: Start menu search, UAC makes it newbie-proof, Aero is easy on eyes, Flip3D is useful, ultimate edition also comes with windows media center.

Bad things:

- data transfer is still slightly slower than XP.
- horrible driver support if you use Creative sound cards. But that's not really Vista's fault.

My earlier post was sarcasm towards the vista haters.

Cheers

Some people are tired of peopel jsut saying its great, but their alos folks here that are pro ms like Nekrosoft who is a cool guy but he is pro MS.

Vista has been slow at gettig respect from certain users but that has changed with the more support and people having time to study it more and get to know the ins and outs more.

If you know what you're doing you don't have viruses in XP x86 either.

Duh, my XP is like so stable it doesn't crash. Can you get more stable than that?

- Faster, provided you have 2GB Ram.

Thank you my XP is fast enough and I have 2GB RAM.

That's also in XP, no surprise legacy stuff works as well.

The only thing anyone in their right mind would care about out of those is Start menu search.
Try harder.
