Back to Vista now, and no activation problems.

Actually got the system up and running very quickly, Vista installs quick and the service pack didn't take more than 30 minutes.

And I was right, the sound is a lot better now...very weird. Must be a driver thing, though it's kind of funny that a Vista driver works better than an XP driver.

I just installed Vista x64 over the weekend and I really don't notice a huge performance improvement. I guess I'm just pushing technology so that everyone will hopefully upgrade to 64-bit one day.

Vista has gotten better over the past year by a long shot. I think a lot of it has to do with the upgrade of my hardware too. However, Vista + laptops = NO! I'm running with 2GB RAM and everything turned off . . . and it's still SLOW!

have you installed SP1? also there is a tool that removes some files making vista faster and lighter still keeping everything intact

donīt remeber where i found that tool but i tried it and some other tweaks and vista went really fast not in crysis though i did use a tweak and all but still XP+Tweak=Faster frames in crysis

I'm not seeing a noticable difference in speed, but Vista 64 is very quick for me anyway. That tweak shed around 2gb off for me though, i liked that.

It might just be the Nvidia drivers.

Don't even get me started on how crap the Vista drivers by Nvidia are compared to the competition.

Intel == 0 problems

AMD == 0 problems

Nvidia == problems galore. And I am using WHQL drivers.

Fortunately, the system doesn't shut down, just restarts the device. Only 1 solid BSOD so far, Nvidia driver at fault. 0 BSOD's in almost 17 months of continuous usage prior to that.
