Default Wow! AMD finally releases a good product!

Just kidding. AMD really just released dysfunctional cpu's to the market. Advertising themselves as a poor quality company who want to sell off their trash to their consumers. I really didn't think AMD would sink so low, but I guess I was wrong! Good going AMD! You proved me wrong!

I cannot explain it but triple-core CPU's just give me a bad feeling.

that might be because its a quad core chip that didn't meet quality standards. So instead of throwing it away trash like you are suppose to do, they sell it to the market.

AMD's move on triple core is equivalent to buying a foot long sub from Subway that falls from the sandwich artist's hands and into his pants. Instead of remaking the sub, the sandwich artist cuts off 1/4th of the sub which was rubbing against his crank and sells it to you at a $1.00 discount.

But things may have just gotten a lot tougher for the No. 2 processor maker in the higher-end quad-core segment. Intel on Sunday cut prices on quad-core processors by up to 50 percent, undermining--or in some cases eliminating--AMD's price advantage.
Turning them screws tighter..

You're out of line. Stop being ignorant. If Intel could make a native quad core instead of pulling out the super glue, theyd do the same.

Heres the thing, why not? They're offering them at about the same price as the X2's. Why not phase out the X2's with X3's, you get the extra core and its not costing you any extra money. Its like theyre giving you a gift.

Tyger, chip makers have been doing this for a very long time. It's usually called "speed binning". When a chip fails to run at a high speed, they down clock it and sell it as a lower end product. Or when a few pipelines\shaders are non-functioning in a graphics chip, they disable half of them and sell it on a cheaper graphics card. People used to use software to unlock disabled pipelines in hopes of getting a few more that worked on a cheaper card.

nvidia, intel, amd, ati... they all do it and its why we have so many different levels of products.

Your analogy doesn't really fit the situation anyway. No one would eat a sandwich that touched someone's wang, where as people have been using partially non-functional hardware for the past decade or more.

Is AMD paying you to say this stuff? Seriously, AMD is getting their butts handed to them, and you attack Intel for making a "fake" quad core? Apparently, "fake" is the way to go nowadays, because Intel is winning by miles. My money goes to the people who make a decent product, and as of right now, that's Intel. As long as I have to pay money for a processor, it's not a "gift" as you say it is. Your justification in this scenario is laughable.

Intel has done this for years, it's called the Celeron.

Tyger is quite biased on this matter. And hypocritical; considering he is bad-mouthing AMD for doing the exact samething both Intel and nVidia (the companies that he praises) have been doing for ages.

Another useless thread to bash AMD by the world's biggest purty-boy.

I'm not attacking them, I'm claiming that they'd make the same move.

The X2 and X3 chips are priced at the same price, so instead of getting the X2, you can get an X3 at the same price effectively giving you a extra core for no extra money.

You could... but AMD chips suck performance wise. It would be a waste of money, no matter how cheap, and no matter if they "give" you an "extra" core for "free".
