Default What's your opinion on gold harvesting?

I've got this old A80502-100 Intel 100mhz processor I stripped from this old computer.

How much do you think these gold pins would yield? (I believe they are gold pins)

I have no idea when it comes to harvesting gold from computer components that's why I ask for your opinions.
My thoughts are, if it yields more than $5 worth of gold, why not strip the pins from these old CPUs and sell the scrap gold? Some of these go for $100 for a lot of 200 CPUs on ebay.

Edit: damn my camera can take some great closeup shots. It's 3 years old FFS.

No they have to be solid gold because gold conducts better than copper. In an old CPU (which probably cost a bunch when it came out) they probably used pure gold.

Nowadays the CPUs don't have pins because it reduces the cost. They just have little thin sheets of gold. (prove me otherwise)?

@breathemetal - do you ever respond seriously to a post? I'm asking for a serious answer not goat sex.

Not much, gold prices are very low right now.

But still high (and what if the price rises?)

I'm not trying to sound like a stupid kid with an ambition here... I'm just... you know having fun.

Edit: Blah... I guess my venture ends. News has it that only older military PC components used solid gold for their processors/motherboards and a bunch of them have already been stripped.

AMD still uses pins.

Like my processor's new hairdoo?

Edit: Will cracking this thing open cause any physical harm to me? (airborne things considered)

Na, you'll be fine.

The shop I used to work at had a huge pile of old Pentium and K6 CPUs... probably 20-30 of them.

We smashed one with a hammer once just to see what it looked like inside.

Just be careful where and a how you break into the thing... they are ceramic so they shatter really bad.

You mean like harmful chemicals? I don't think so. I didn't think you can crack old K6 and Intel DX2 CPU's. I have a K6 233ANR and an Intel I486 DX2, maybe a PC part collector (CaptnKill) might want them .
