Sorry Bman, totally didn't see your post there. They sound really good for the money.

The trouble is, where the hell do you go to try out PC speakers? It's not like 'propper' HT systems where you can go to a hifi store and have a listen. And 300 is a lot to spend if you don't know what you're buying.

I have a set of Z-5500s on right now lol. It's a great all around setup for the price. I got mine for $200 brand new

The speakers throw out a spectrum of ranges and does it very well. The highlight is the 10inch sub. It kicks total ass, and I have yet to hear distortion from it. even at full tilt, it just doesn't distort. At full tilt, it's frighteningly loud. And it will knock stuff clear off the walls.

I was actually building a high end rig for a friend a few years back, and we decided on these speakers, so he took the gamble on them. Once I heard them I decided it was time I got my own.

I know what you mean though, you are basically looking blindly for them. IMO even in a store most speaker setups don't really do any justice for them cause they usually have bad music playing through them. Also at our best buy they are hooked up, but all lined up in a row against the wall and routed through one of those little switchers so you can compare the speakers, but who knows how well they are even hooked up cause whatever person working in that department would have set it up.

Quit it with the elitist attitude. It's here, the speakers perform well for the price, some people can't afford the time, money or space for a full HT system. Get over it.
