It's basically this. You start out in this place called tortage that is the single player version that they changed to be multiplayer day mode combined with a single player night mode. So tortage is extremly linear, in many ways. It's basically aoc's newbie starting area for all races. After you complete the single player quest which ends in epic fashion, ytou are teleported to your races main city. There are 'boat men' that can take u between these main cities to the other main cities as well as to the various hunting areas.

Your never really running all over the world because your already level 20 by the tiem u access the world, and then the very next hunting areas can take u to 30...So before you know it you have access to a mount and so forth. Some of the maps are insanely huge yes. But you spend a vast amount of time more questing or killing then running to and from these areas.

Oh and I didnt get any type of desktop icons at all. The only way I can get into the game is by manually going into the Funcom folder and clicking the patcher. Anybody got any ideas on this?
That sounds right performance-wise. You can tweak the settings a bit to get better framerates at very little loss in image quality. And yeah the game doesn't install a desktop icon with Vista, it just goes right into the Games folder.

Yeah, nice try sparky.

No DX10 eh? Kinda sad since they touted this game as a DX10 game in almost every thing they put out. LOL! Oh well

I put the game on medium settings for the best graphics per performance balance. I can put it on high but certain areas dip down to 20fps and that drives me nuts. At medium there is no dipping. NO DIPPING I TELL YA!

Any way I am really enjoying the game. I like the Necro even more now than in the beta. The one thing that is complete crap is the pet bar. Get rid of that damn USLESS pet bar and put a real one on the UI. I'm sorry but putting pet command in the action bar is a terrible idea. With so few action bar hot keys using them up for a pet is annoying.

I'm not using any. It takes to big a hit for me. Right now in Tortage you do no notice the jaggies at all because there is so much going on in the back ground that you do not focus in on any one part of the scenery. And honestly I am enjoying the game play to much to even care.

LOL I remember when you were poopooing the game based on the open beta. I quit the open beta after a few hours of play because I did not want the stress test to be the deciding factor for this tame.

All those who said the game is terrible based on the stress test or open beta really are eating crow right now. The game is wonderful. The only question is will this game have longevity or will it be like a extended single player game where you play through it once and then quit your subscription.

I've never seen quite at good a launch also. WoW had problems at first but nothing big. They did have terrible lag issues in the major cities and mainly at Ironforge for a year before they got that squared away but it was also a pretty good launch.

I played from 6:35 last night to 1am. Only WoW kept me up for so long on a mmo. That was way too long. I will be in bed by 10:30 tonight.

I played to 19 in about 6 hours. I enjoyed it a lot more than when I played WoW to 19. This is a real RPG with more character customization beyond that of just talent trees.

I just got to the Stygian starting city and did a few quests in the first quest zone. First impression, the framerates are much much better outside of Tortage and the zones look incredible. Not to mention they are humongous. They have a distinctive feel just like the WoW zones do too. Very impressive so far.
