I was a closed beta tester. The game has come a long way since beta, as far as playability goes. I think it's been worth it so far. Apparently there is quite a learning curve for a lot of players. I spend about half my time each night answering questions (that I'm sure are answered somewhere, but I love the game and don't mind helping) about how to add friends or how to climb. I think that the starter area could use a little more tutorial, but overall it's honestly doing better than I expected. I still get an error every time I close the game, but the game runs great on my system under Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I have been enjoying the game alot, though I probably won't venture onto the PvP servers anymore. The ganking just bores me. It wasn't that I was getting ganked, but the fact that I was able to so easily gank so many people, so easily......it was just lame. The PvE servers so far have been more fun for me, so I'm sticking to them.

Actually, you're playing in DX9. The game is not actually running under DX10 right now, even though you have that option selected. DX10 is SM4.0, and I know that SM3.0 is the highest selectable shader option. I'm looking forward to seeing the SM4.0 when it gets released though, as I'm sure it's gonna be insane.

In that case, I'll wait until the next gen cards come out. I don't think an 8800gt would be worth the upgrade from my 8800gts 320 OC.

Nobody should upgrade graphics cards until mid-end of june, after seeing what nVidia and ATI have to offer

Also, there was a test on another board somewhere, this game is ALL GPU. Processor upgrades gave like 1-2 FPS, while going to a better video card gave 10+ FPS.

Something like a C2D 2.4ghz with a 8800 GTX ran it better than a C2D 3.6ghz (OC) with a 7800 GTX.
if i were to purchase a brand new dell xps

any recommendations?

what video card and what processor?

i don't want to spend anything more then $1500 is that doable?

Vista Home Premium would probably be fine (unless you need the business features and such...Then you may want to go with Ultimate).

As stated above, if you can hold out for a few weeks to see what Nvidia does (I'm not sure when the ATI card is coming, but Nvidia's is mid next month) that would be the best thing to do...

The game crashes like that for many people, even when running XP SP2. It's not a Vista issue.

Had to reroll from Demonologist to Conqueror, Demos need a major overhaul before I'll play one again.

This has nothing to do with Vista, almost everybody has this issue and it has no negative effects.

Hmm I was expecting a lot more visually....erm....haven't gone through the manual but, how do you level up? Is it automatic? Do you not like get a screen to choose what you want in terms of skils/spells to choose when you level up?
