It is Guild Wars-ish but so much better

I cannot get past the character creation screen. Character creation effects do nothing. When I finally pick a name and hit play I get the back screen and nothing from there on.

I updated to lastest drivers, still the same.

well the defining difference between guild wars and other MMOs is it artificaly reduces how many spells you can bring into an area. does conan do the same? this is great for pvp but I kinda dislike for pve.

I have, lowered rez etc. No effect

Many are having this problem also from what I can tell on the forums.

Update:
Changing Rez to non wide screen fix'd it

No. Conan is like all the other MMOS. You have a spellbook. Drag and drop the spell to the actionbar.

I have to say I love this game. As most are, I am frustrated because it is still just a BETA. I like how they immerse you into the quests with voice dialog. You can do parts solo (meaning single player mode) or with in the regular public game. So far this game is brilliant. Then again I am extremely biased towards Conan lore.

One more thing. The game runs fairly well for such great graphics in a large game such as a MMO. I look at this game and there is no way I can go back to the old graphics of WoW.

+1

The Graphics are very nice !
Once I get in game I can crank up the rez and settings and it looks pretty darn sweet. Haven't played it a whole lot but so far I think they have done a pretty good job on the game.

I recommend staying out of the cities. They are worse than Ironforge in the first year of WoW. Complete lagcity.

I completely love the necromancer. What a fantastic class they are.

Looking at the screenshots, this is what comes to mind:

Q: "I bet the brats/kids stay the hell away from this game - I've had enough of the WoW general chat kiddies. I heard AoC will be very much different and adult-oriented."
A: "Apparently, nope."

Q: "Hope there's no hand-walking you with yellow exclamation marks over NPCs heads and noobish stuff like that. I'm a mature MMOer FFS!!1"
A: "Actually, there is."
