I always thought Plasmas are superior to LCD's .. they produce better contrast (i.e. black levles) , faster response time & an overall better image. so my vote goes for teh Plasma.

I would take a look at the new LED backlit LCDs that are out. The black levels are fantastic on them.

Isn't the Pioneer Kuro plasma the best TV you can buy now? All the reviews seem to think so.

Decision made
It is SAMSUNG LE46A656Was looking at several shops today at different plasma and LCD TVs, and SAMSUNG LE46A656 had (within my price range) the best picture, contrast and colors. Many plasmas seemed really washed-out, except some really high-end ones (2 times above my price range). Also 240 W power consumption is a big difference to 500W + for plasma TVs. They did not have Philips 47" LCD on stock though... So I went with Samsung LCD.

I watched those TVs both in well-lit rooms and dark rooms. Looking at Panasonic "7" series (2007 gen) and "8" series, there was a big difference. PZ70 is a crap, very low contrast, bad colors, but new PZ80/PZ85 is a very nice TV. Even DVB-T PAL looked very good on it.

congrats on your new T.V, looks sweet. how far back are you sitting? it looks like from here you might need to get a bit more spread from your speakers.
