Great news for me! This is only for people who have had a paid subscription in the past, I believe.
AWESOME timing! I just finished my one month free of Age of Conan and was getting ready to come back to LOTRO anyway!

LOTRO is about 100x better than AOC in my opinion, based largely on the fact that the AOC servers in the US are EMPTY... It was like playing a single player RPG that didn't have a good storyline...

I haven't tried Age of Conan, but have seen it on a friends computer and gameplay does not look bad at all, however graphics are not good enough. LOTRO textures are much better in my opinion, and art direction looks much more polished

Well I fired up LOTRO again for the freeplay weekend and I'm definitely coming back. This game is so much more polished and engaging than AoC, I can't believe it!

I did like the AoC graphics but the LOTRO art style is much better!

Damn, I reinstalled this and tried playing it again the other day...uninstalled it about 2 hours later. Maybe it's because I was so into WoW for so long and it's weird playing a different game, but something about this game just seems bland to me.

I find LOTRO a very good game for casual players and, of course, for Tolkien fans (like me). Most hardcore MMORPG players don't like this game.

Sometimes I spend hours just wandering around looking at familiar environments, just a walk from The Shire to Rivendell. I love Tolkien world and Turbine has done an excellent work with the maps and the environment

Early areas like the Shire have a benign and pastoral feel, but as you move on to the likes of Angmar, Forochel and Moria the darkness closes in - often literally.

In that way the game reflects the books very well, beginning gently, and becoming ever darker and grittier, with pockets of calm like Rivendell and Lothlorien offering refuge.

It's a fine game that dares to be different and doesn't rely on grind to give it an artificial sense of pace, like so many others do.

I just got into Moria. I like the new legendary weapons, cool.

However Moria is reminding me of Darkness Falls from Dark Age of Camelot and I'm just not digging it too much. I much prefer the beautiful outdoor levels, much more interesting...

Head out to Lothlorien if you get too claustrophobic.

Yeah, I picked up Mines of Moria for $20 since it included the original. Spent most of the day playing it, got a champion, rune-keeper, and guardian to 10. The only thing that really annoys me about it is the UI, it just seems really unpolished. To make it worse, user created addons are not possible, which means you're stuck with the unintuitive UI and Chat.

I guess I'm just spoiled by the awesomeness of the WoW mod community. =/

Outside of that, its pretty fun. The RK's attunement system is a really neat way of balancing hybrid classes, and is easily the most enjoyable class of the three for me. (probably because I played a warrior in WoW for the past two years)

Well I just picked up a new gaming laptop Friday (Gateway p-7805u) and happy to report the games runs good on it even with DX10 graphics!

I'm working steadily on the epic quests (just make it to Chapter 10). I have my hunter up to level 53 now and the epics are getting harder.

Once of the things I love most about the game are the scripted epic quests and the cutscenes after. Really makes me feel part of a movie or something. Very cool.

I played WoW for a year and from a story perspective, this game has it all over WoW...
