What a great game! This is the first time I have been genuinely impressed by UE3 engine. Very nice looking and great playing game!

it takes a talented group of individuals to turn UE3 into something good. So far only been done twice, Mass Effect and Bioshock.

I checked with fraps. I've got vsync on and the framerate bounced between 40s and 60 throughout the first part of the game, even in the firefights and larger outdoor areas it never dropped below the 40s. I play on my HDTV so that's at 1366x768, max in-game settings, 16xAF, 2x2 SSAA, vsync on. Pretty impressive and it looks absolutely stunning.

Also, I finally finished mapping all the controls to my 360 gamepad so now I can play from my couch without needing my wireless KB/M. I was worried I wasn't going to be able to do it with the PC UI enhancements but I was even able to get all the quickslots mapped to buttons on the controller. Pinnacle game profiler has been one of the best gaming investments I've ever made!

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty being an example of how not to use the UE3 engine

Anyone notice Seth Green does the voice of joker, I noticed it was him during the opening scene when he was talking over the radio. Very cool game so far.

really wish the game was a PC only from the start, maybe that way they could decrease the amount of background loadtimes hidden with constand elevator use.

A bit off topic, but do you guys remember the awful load points in Clive Barker's Undying first level?. When they started designing the game it was supposed to be on PC and consoles, and they had to prepare it for low memory environments, so the manor was loaded room by room (mostly). Later on, console option was discarted and the rest of levels did not have so many load points.

Yeah elevator rides seem to take forever.

Also, starting the game takes a long time for me. I hit the Play button then after 2 min later, the game finally 'unfreezes' and goes to intro movies. Deleting the ad splash movies did help startup time btw.

i was watching HDD activity during the elevator ride, once it starts, the "load" is done within 1-3 seconds. HDD stops reading, but elevator keeps on going.

Bioware inserted those elevator for console version to hide the loading, they could have re-done that part of game and either remove those elevators of shorten them. Probably was to much work to bother.

Maybe they'll update the elevators in a patch.
