Default Re: Mass Effect (PC) Feedback Thread

I just noticed while walking around The Wards at the Citadel that this game has very little ambient sound. Is that normal?

There is almost nothing making any noise at all in the game world. The area where you can see the ships flying by has one ship sound every few seconds, but it seems like there should be a lot more noise than that.

Is this just a bug with my sound or is the game world generally silent other than the music?

EDIT: Also, there are a couple other things that are puzzling me:

*How can I tell which Licenses I'm carrying? I've bought several but they don't show up anywhere in the inventory. Is it possible to buy one I already have?

*Can I trade weapons between squad members? If one character has a nice shotgun and I want to give it to another character, I have to actually go find another shotgun as a placeholder to swap them out. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

*Is there any kind of list for quest items that I'm holding? Such as a datapad? I don't know if I'll ever need a list like this, but it just seems strange to pick things up without being able to see them listed anywhere in my inventory.

*Is there any way to switch Squad members while on the Citadel, other than when finding new squad members?

I have noticed a few of those things, expecially the swapping the guns around part.
Its a great game but could have been even better if it was more like the Deus ex UI. But i suppose it was toned down for the Xbox people

Err... am I the only one who is having some serious bugs with the Quaser cheating side quest?

After I win a few games and exit a machine, the camera becomes detached from the player and I can't fix it or do anything but run around. The only way to get around it is to save and reload the game.

I also had the game crash to the desktop while doing the same thing.

I'm getting into the space exploration part of this now. Its pretty awesome.

Landing on planets and exploring them reminds me a lot of Star Control 2 where you can "scan" some planets and land on others to pick up resources. It was extremely cheesy looking back in the early 90s but I think this part of Mass Effect was inspired by that game.

So far the only thing I don't like about this game is the combat.

Its clunky and at this point it doesn't feel like my character's combat abilities are really progressing. Its so "loose" feeling that even after raising my stats considerably and buying more powerful weapons, I'm not really noticing any difference. I'm playing on Veteran, so it can be pretty tough and my squad mates almost always die because they are apparently retarded... but it just feels like a mediocre third person shooter.

I'm glad the rest of the game is absolutely fantastic and that there is a good balance of combat, exploration and dialog.

I finally got around to starting this game a couple days ago.... I also just got to the space exploration part and got my spectar status. I ussually never play these types of games... they ussually bore the hell out of me.... but so far I am enjoying this game For a port, the graphics look pretty decent IMO Im going to have to check around and see if anyone got AA working in the game.

Desperately looking for something new to play. Could this be something for me who usually don´t have the patience for rpg:s but enjoy first/third person action games?

Probably not. There is a lot of talking, you can even talk your way out of 2 major boss fights, so most likely NOT your game.
