That's good to hear.

I was hoping they'd do more with the KoTOR series as well, but once they handed it over to Obsidian for the sequel, I got kind of upset. Obsidian has absolutely no talent at all and only relies on how popular the predecessor was in order to make money off their shoddy games. For a company that makes sequels for the most part you'd think they'd be able to code out of a wet paper bag, seeing how most of the game is pretty much done and basically is the same as the first. After the KoTOR II fiasco, I have this sour taste in my mouth.

Here's to hoping they don't drop the ball on ME2 and 3.

NWN2 was great and wasn't most of the Obsidian guys responsible for Planescape? That game was amazingly good!

Most of the Obsidian crew was behind most of the great D&D Based titles.

I wonder what happened with KotOR II? Lucas Arts wanting the game finished?

Nevermind though, they have nothing to do with Mass Effect.

KOTOR2 was rushed to hell, Alot was cut out of the final game.

Supposedly they were "forced" into finishing it even though it wasn't done. Just slapped the ending on it and shipped it out.

Upon looking at the game files, there were tons of scripts that never made it into the final release. But get this... it's still on the CD. They also stripped the high-res movies and totally dropped the ball on the ending - including the voices! The fans of the game had to take it upon themselves to fix it since Obsidian's excuse was basically "We can't do anything for it because LucasArts won't let us." That's such a load of bull. No support what so ever. And this isn't concerning the stuff they can't touch, obviously.

You literally got half a game when it came out.

I'm used to this now, though. Get a game, deal with the bugs, and sit on my ass until a patch comes out. That's the trend now. At least I can deal with Mass Effect's bugs since they're mostly cosmetic for me. Nothing is too game breaking. At least not yet.

Lucas Arts owns all the IP, once they told Obsidian to stop working on the project and provide them with a Retail Ready version it was out of their hands. legally they can't go back and work on the title anymore if Lucas Arts doesn't allow them to. The fan releases could also have been stopped if Lucas Arts sent them a cease and desist letter from their lawyers, they've done it in the past.

Yeah, I remember the whole KoTOR I fiasco with mods. Other small mod sites got a slap to the face by LA's lawyers. Wasn't pretty. The community died out rather quickly after that.

But on my last sentence you quoted me on, I mention they don't even offer help for anything non-mod related. LucasArts support is virtually non-existant, so you basically pay money for a coaster if you try to get any type of support. As a developer, I would expect Obsidian to buck up and admit to their faults on it and come clean. Never happened.

But anyways, it's water under the bridge. I've learn to deal with it as I've dealt with more anal companies trying to protect their properties. You don't know how anal David Perry was when it came to Earthworm Jim. At least he had a sense of humor about it though, hehe.

So back to Mass Effect...
Anyone know when the next one is slated for a release?
