Just installed the patch...

Mass Effect 1.01

Mass Effect
===========
- added some infrastructure support for additional downloadable content
- updated the image of the Batarian race in the codex
- fixed an issue where the center channel for hardware audio occasionally wouldn't play correctly
- fixed an issue where the hardware mouse pointer would disappear when first selected
- fixed an issue where Shepard did not auto-crouch when entering cover in some locations
- fixed a tool-tip indicating a game restart is needed before enabling hardware or software audio if the option was changed
- fixed an issue where ambient conversation occasionally would not be audible from rear speakers
- fixed a text string to make it clearer on how to exit a vehicle
- fixed a text string so the tool tip for dragging the map is clearer in French languages builds

Mass Effect Configuration Utility
---------------------------------
- fixed a crash when running on certain multi-core AMD systems
- fixed an issue where video RAM was not being reported properly on certain video cards

Nothing too interesting really...

I'm not really sure when I'll actually play the DLC. I just beat the game and I'm waist-deep in STALKER right now.

The interface is really bad with annoying handling, everything looks the same with that cold sci-fi look and I don't get the fighting system and skills. Mass Effect doesn't motivate me enough to invest more time to figure these things out...
I find the interface ok although you can just play without putting much effort into it.
you can enjoy the game using just the run 'n gun style for the fighting system .. the skill system is pretty obvious! each point enhances certain skill until unlocking a new feature & so on. i dont see why wouldnt you get it

The interface involves to many clicks IMO. I had to press Esc three times to get from the Journal view back to the game for example. And the inventory is badly organized as well.
Anyway, I'm done with this game, I didn't like it at all, not even the story.
As i said , with the run 'n gun style you dont have to use those skills/abilites. you can play as a lone wolf & just equip your squadmates with the latest tech & let them do their job. i dont use any of their abilites .. i mostly depend only on my character's config.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but from what you've said you never even gave this game a chance. Your loss.

Contrary to popular belief, no one is entitled to their opinion. slaWter loves the game. He needs the game. Without the game he is lost.

A little off topic but...

1 New Video Card = -1 Activation? If so I'm down to one activation left and I just got a new HD I want to install. That would be my last install of Mass Effect if so. Any problems like having to reinstall OS again and I'm screwed.
